About

The Aymat Weekly is a fictional news website that serves as a complement to the Marsano Aymat Mystery Series written by Matt Mystes. The Aymat Weekly strives to provide local news, insight, and actionable information about The Twins neighborhood in Washington DC. The site, staffed solely by Marsano (Mars) Aymat, attempts to provide Opinion Journalism—Mars’s opinion, via his understanding, based on his research—and to follow most of the foundational principles of Solutions Journalism, Slow Journalism, Accountability Journalism, and Big Local News. As such, Mars will not publish on a regular schedule but on an ad hoc basis, posting at a minimum a quarterly piece.

The Aymat Weekly will provide two different types of content–The Aymat Weekly Articles and a second offering, The Yuffy Papers.

Mars’s second offering is a serialized, true account of the adventures of the Yuffies. A YUFFY is a young, urbane failure–those over-educated and over-qualified, twenty and thirty-somethings denizens who have not found their way in the world yet but still manage to infiltrate DC. They survive on menial gig work, possess a surfeit of anti-establishment behavior, practice selective social altruism, and evince kindness toward residents of The Twins, the little people of the world, and other Yuffies.

Note: In the series, Mars occasionally uses a slingshot, and on the website, the slingshot symbolically takes aim at The Twins, the target of his hyper-local news reporting, or at the U.S. Capitol, the seat of “the establishment.”
